The State of Health in Teaneck (2018)

Every year, the Health Department compiles a report regarding the State of Health in the Township of Teaneck

It’s a great resource and full of data about the Town’s health.

Some stats:

  • Communicable diseases: 101 cases (2.5 cases per 1,000 residents)
  • Deaths (by primary cause):
    • 194 (Cardio Vascular (CVD) & Pulmonary (CPD))
    • 35 Cancer (various)
    • 0 Diabetes
    • 4 (Intestinal (includes Failure to Thrive)
    • 3 (Kidney/Renal)
    • 19 (Liver/Sepsis)
    • 7 (Pneumonia)
    • 5 (Stroke)
    • 14 (Cerebro-Vascular Disease (incl. Dementia))
    • 7 (Accidents (incl. Homicide, Suicide))
  • Lead: 6 cases of childhood lead poisoning were investigated
  • Noise complaints: 10 cases
  • Animal Control: 730 requests for service
  • Housing / Property Maintenance:
    • 1496 inspections
    • Approx 1,000 violation notices
    • 163 summonses issued
    • 40 summary abatements
    • 1,627 inspections for multiple family dwelling, hotel, etc…
  • 4,412 birth/death/marriage certificates
