{"id":3719,"date":"2019-10-28T17:12:11","date_gmt":"2019-10-28T17:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.teanecktoday.com\/blog\/?page_id=3719"},"modified":"2019-10-28T19:25:02","modified_gmt":"2019-10-28T19:25:02","slug":"george-washington-bridge-and-a-teaneck-tribute","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.teanecktoday.com\/blog\/teaneck-history\/george-washington-bridge-and-a-teaneck-tribute\/","title":{"rendered":"George Washington Bridge and a Teaneck Tribute"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"csq10\" data-offset-key=\"7u67k-0-0\">\n<h2 data-offset-key=\"7u67k-0-0\">George Washington Bridge and a Teaneck Tribute<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"7u67k-0-0\">On October 25, 1931, cars started to roll over the George Washington Bridge (Route 4 would be completed the following year).<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"7u67k-0-0\">In early October of 1931, the town started to sense the coming changes.<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div data-offset-key=\"7u67k-0-0\">For the comfort of these gentlemen, we got a letter from the Port authorities showing the proposed routes for traffic from the bridge when<br \/>\nit is opened, and the proposed route was Route #4 going down to Grand Avenue, Englewood, Grand Avenue to Forest Avenue, and right over to Queen Anne Road and down to Cedar Lane. Of course we protested immediately. I called up the New York office and he went over the grounds with the Chief and I think the traffic will be diverted to Fort Lee Road, Teaneck Road and over Cedar Lane.<\/div>\n<div data-offset-key=\"7u67k-0-0\">That in brief is the story of the conditions on Teaneck Road except for one section.
