No. 4026<\/span>,\u00a0<span class=\"hisdate\">8-21-2007<\/span><\/span>, \u00a7\u00a01]\n<span class=\"highlight\">Holidays<\/span>, for the purpose of this chapter, except as specifically provided for in the Municipal Building parking area in \u00a7\u00a0<a class=\"xref\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/ecode360.com\/13625640#13625640\">36-31.1<\/a>, shall be as follows:<\/label><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"contentTitle barTitle sectionTitle 13625551 selected\" data-guid=\"13625551\" data-full-title=\"Sec.\u00a036-5: Holidays.\"><label id=\"13625551_label\" class=\"selectionLabel\" for=\"13625551_input\">Succoth (2 days)<\/label><\/li>\n<li data-guid=\"13625551\" data-full-title=\"Sec.\u00a036-5: Holidays.\">Columbus Day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This ticket alleges I parked in a place that was legal to park (i.e. it shouldn&#8217;t exist).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>No parking &#8220;except holidays&#8221; + Holiday = move along, officer.<br \/>\nRight?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Except, it does exist.\u00a0 And trying to bring this to the attention of those in charge was hard.\u00a0 Too hard.<\/p>\n<p>Since I was also a councilman at the time it was issued, the summons couldn&#8217;t even be heard in Teaneck &#8211;&gt; so the ticket was transferred to Bergenfield.<br \/>\nWhen a summons is transferred, the professionals that write it still need to testify, meaning our professionals (including the police involved, had to be paid to attend court in another town).<\/p>\n<p>Bergenfield uses the same prosecutor Teaneck appointed, so it couldn&#8217;t be heard in Bergenfield, either.<\/p>\n<p>This summons (which never should have existed) &#8211;&gt; then went to Lyndhurst (but not before I received a &#8220;failure to appear&#8221; for the court date I didn&#8217;t know about).<br \/>\nHow many man-hours were involved for Teaneck staff here?\u00a0 I still don&#8217;t know.<\/p>\n<p>And then&#8230; the ticket disappeared.<br \/>\nThe summons was listed as &#8220;disposed&#8221; on December 23rd.\u00a0 There&#8217;s no indication why or by whom.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s gone.<\/p>\n<p>I <del>should<\/del> could have left it alone.\u00a0 I won.<\/p>\n<p>But I wondered: I got this type of summons, did it happen more than once (to how many others)?<\/p>\n<h3>The Open Public Records Act<\/h3>\n<p>I asked the Teaneck clerk for a list of summonses issued for <a href=\"https:\/\/ecode360.com\/TE0774\/search?query=%22Except%20holidays%22&amp;scope=all&amp;sortOrder=relevance\">ordinances that do not apply on holidays<\/a> (thanks to the code being updated, the list was fairly easy) and for the dates listed in the &#8220;Holidays&#8221;
